Many people think that having a vegetarian diet, makes you a weird person. In the world that we live in today, vegetarians are still looked upon as people that have bad nutrition and lack protein in their diet. What most meat eaters don’t understand is that having a plant based diet does not mean “lack of nutrition”, its the complete opposite. More than 99% of the people in this world have been raised as meat eaters, so its not a wonder why many of them think that cutting meat from their diet will destroy their nutrition. Learning about the vegetarian diet and understanding how much better its for your body is a must for anyone trying to go Veg. Many people are uneducated about vegetarianism, so they just speak what they believe it lacks. I have had many conversations with many uneducated meat eaters that believe the vegetarian diet is a joke and that animals where placed in this earth for us to consume. If I can get them to listen to my point of view, at least 2 out of 10 will agree with what I say. However, at the end of the day what matters is what we, as vegetarians believe in, and try to educate as many people as we can, whether they choose to go Veg or continue to eat meat, is their choice, but if you can give them something to think about, you have made a implant in that persons thoughts, and who knows, maybe in a some time they too will be vegetarians and help create peace on this earth.

As summer of 2010 starts winding down and we start getting ready for back-to-school and fall, we have to admit it was a great season. Nothing better than fresh ripe tomatoes, full flavored bell peppers and tasty firm squash during the hot summer days. We have made some wonderful dishes this season that will surely be missed, but we will see them again next year. So what do the warm-to-cooling off days of fall offer? Well the best tasting broccoli, sprouts, cabbage, onions, pumpkin and spinach, are some of the very best veggies around during fall. There are some people that don't really care about how great their veggies or fruit taste, they are just happy to eat them, and that is great, but when you eat veggies and fruits that are in-season, they not only taste much better, but they also offer more nutrients as they are more concentrated. At the end of the day, as a vegetarian you have to fill your life with the freshest and most concentrated foods so we can continue to feel better than we ever have. If you are ever at the market or farmers market and need to find out what's in-season, just ask, once you try the difference, you will never go back. For now, continue to enjoy the tomatoes and other great seasonal summer veggies and fruits with a nice cold iced tea, sitting under a parasol and getting ready for the next season. Cheers!
